"The crucial point is: by changing ourselves, we change the world. As we become more loving on the inside, healing occurs on the outside. Much like the rising of the sea level lifts all ships, so the radiance of unconditional love within a human heart lifts all of life.”

The Cypress Psychiatry Philosophy

I am Mary Katherine, a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner who embraces the unique journey of each individual. I combine psychodynamic insights with a holistic biopsychosocial approach to offer each client personalized care.

To optimize each client’s quality of life according to their own intrinsic values, I provide practical and evidenced-based treatment plans.

I meet you where you are and provide a “down to earth,” open, and supportive atmosphere where you can talk human to human. I am honored to walk alongside you on your journey.

Background and Education

I was born and raised in East Texas and received my Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center. Prior to that, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at the University of Texas at Tyler and a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Entrepreneurial Management from Texas Christian University.

Experience

My nursing experience includes both neurology and emergency medicine. I have also had the pleasure of working in long-term care, practicing geriatric psychiatry, and treating those with chronic severe mental illness.

In my free time, I enjoy reading, painting, being outside in nature, and playing chess with my family.
